You don't have to take my word for it though. Tony Banks and Phil Collins both describe "Cerulean Blue" as being the quintessential Progressive Rock experience of the 21st Century, so there you go. nbsp;2004: Rain - Cerulean Blue - ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ezWAovjzEM

Anthony was forced to quit the band he loved due to crippling stage fright, and being wise after the event, he realised his talents would be better-suited to pursuing a solo career, and so, the only "Live" album you'll ever hear from Anthony Phillips is "The Living Room Concert", recorded (you guessed it) live at home in his living room with only his close friends and family and the dog for company - which is roughly equal to the audience numbers who'd turn up to see Roger Waters performing live at a Republican convention. nbsp;1977: Anthony Phillips - The Geese and the Ghost - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZ4n2snJjjBQunttOnefS2l 978: Anthony Phillips - Wise After the Event - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZAttf6KomP50zVzkhOeiPb 978: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEaaddgcEUWg6eba-yFu92LQ 979: Anthony Phillips - Sides - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZ34zSlT1OhKPLDuhV2V-0_ 980: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces II: Back to the Pavilion - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbQmfGJJyTMJqjNgFJ1IwWx 981: Anthony Phillips - 1984 - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYw_1yTPXpHhBs65vORUTEd 982: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces III: Antiques - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZNVH29wRXERwOtCBnLjYfP 983: Anthony Phillips - Invisible Men - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEa0ppGwHdvfl5DNK--ARpu0 984: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces IV: A Catch at the Tables - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYjRwgzCyutgcFmADfRfJgA 985: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces V: Twelve - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbj46K0jNzwcTu4bqBJ81a2 986: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces VI: Ivory Moon - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEb6JwB97PcNfFlvixSqH3uj 987: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces VII: Slow Waves, Soft Stars - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbCFVikrnB7VU1Ur4IIm03A 988: Anthony Phillips & Harry Williamson - Tarka - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEaotbn9iZkbcSdCgwnH2FYE 989: Anthony Phillips - Missing Links I: Finger Painting - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEY3Cy0_03m9cYuD2CfQjsQ0 990: Anthony Phillips - Slow Dance - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEavPdOAZUTXss7KUvN4XyE9 992: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces VIII: New England - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYeBPdzaxvLcFmflShiJKHp 994: Anthony Phillips - Sail the World - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEY1rmc1Z7OLGFFjNd35Glja 994: Anthony Phillips - Missing Links II: The Sky Road - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYZWJ2ctcz0ylqY-nwexEg0 995: Anthony Phillips & Harry Williamson - Gypsy Suite - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYWKsA5d1NAUlVWfYDaA6dx 995: Anthony Phillips - The Living Room Concert - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbrGMaaA2g0kpLTFj3S9jPW 996: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces IX: Dragonfly Dreams - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbO-lzGdP-BNJMfm01C9R0e 996: Anthony Phillips & Guillermo Cazenave  The Meadows of England - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZzNfaSmNYPUsvp_Jis6pyX 997: Anthony Phillips - Missing Links III: Time and Tide - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZ59XeUrgOtl1ZnNvRaqJz9 999: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces X: Soiree - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbQCZlL2Y7kjxlph87r-lRf 004: Anthony Phillips & Harry Williamson - The Battle of the irds - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZ7sDNkVHaWdHNt1YCjRdfv 005: Anthony Phillips - Field Day - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZx1dHjtcK6yrAQj0LXIpGJ 007: Anthony Phillips & Joji Hirota - Wildlife - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYiaaAEPj45xQO9XQeikR1U 009: Anthony Phillips - Missing Links IV: Pathways & Promenades - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbBVhssEYEszMhe0uZUXfg5 010: Anthony Phillips - Ahead of the Field: Music for TV & Film - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZ4ZPQFnlb_fpwMhdZYm_ij 012: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces XI: City of Dreams - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEa5FYe_Dz2kkdlhQfkcw1jx 012: Anthony Phillips & Andrew Skeet - Seventh Heaven - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZI-Gyp895AmoUjshKph3uZ 015: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces I-IV - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEaWCVvpjk2Q0mOairawHALy 016: Anthony Phillips - Private Parts & Pieces V-VIII - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZc55j4NXzmqM9xKD205NC0 019: Anthony Phillips - Strings of Light - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYfmw159omHw18Y4OR1betD

Prog fans will know him best as a founder member of IQ until announcing his departure from the band back in 2007. Martin's also worked with increasing Frequency with John Wetton and Jadis too and in The Wake of leaving IQ, he's created one of the best Neo Prog albums you're Ever likely to hear - "The Old Road" - even if you have some Resistance to Neo Prog generally. nbsp;2000: Martin Orford - Classical Music and Popular Songs - ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mWtibyPkAngLHLQI4vYNsM9WpLnW9YEUA 008: Martin Orford - The Old Road -  ttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ksA4A-Q-b1CHVURkcc30XFx11G1rmVVm0Edited by Psychedelic Paul - Yesterday at 08:01

Well, not least because RYM today is definitely the most used site, also when talking about Progressive Rock alone, and PA being only a much smaller brother which can for instance be illustrated by something I've written in another thread: "If want to compare PA with RYM with regard to numbers of Prog ratings in general, 156 albums have got at least 1000 ratings on PA, while the same amounts to about 600 albums for RYM's "Progressive Rock" and "Progressive Metal" alone which stylistically seen is a much narrower perspective than all the albums included on PA. When considering which definition to find the most important and influential, you have not least to look at which one is most used. That's at least the typical logic of historians. Anyway, considering the much growing of numbers of Progressive Rock ratings on RYM which shows to me much interest for the genre, and the site's definition of the genre, I feel now definitely more at ease on behalf of Progressive Rock. suitkees wrote:Sorry, my obsession is probably to counter fallacies in reasoning, and I will probably come over as arrogant - which I probably am -, but let's play... David_D wrote:A term, and not least in the world of art and music, will usually be defined and used in different ways. That's a platitude. Which is OK, but it is not saying anything, other than going counter to your obstination to privilege the RYM definition of Prog while dismissing PA's definition... When considering which definition to find the most important and influential, you have not least to look at which one is most used. That's at least the typical logic of historians.More than once I had the impression that you made statements in domains you clearly don't master. One of them is philosophy and now historiography. You clearly don't know anything about the "logic" of historians. Even in the natural sciences your statement might be much disputed, but I don't think there will be many historians adopting your populist ideology (because that's what it comes down to). It definitely is not the popularity of definitions that move forward the human sciences, but more their efficiency. In historiography there can be very specific definitions that are not used by many others but that still help us to better understand specific (historical) phenomena. Again, it is not about the popularity of a definition, it is about its efficiency and pertinence in order to better understand (and explain) what happened or what a phenomenon is about. And especially when we want to cut back (historical) phenomena to just one popular definition we will be doing a lot of injustice to both history and historiography. Anyway, considering the much growing of numbers of Progressive Rock ratings on RYM which shows to me much interest for the genre, and the site's definition of the genre, I feel now definitely more at ease on behalf of Progressive Rock.So now you're talking "on behalf" of Progressive Rock? But apart from that, it is another fallacy to think that from the number of RYM users you could conclude anything about the popularity of the definition of Progressive Rock RYM is giving - I don't think that the RYM users registered because of RYM's definition of Progressive Rock, let alone voted for it (or against it). Your extrapolations are creating realities that don't exist.Actually, I think you can play better and more clean than this, Kees, but I guess the circumstances are not the best ones.I wouldn't mind also to hear Lewian's opinion on the matter, but I guess there's the same problem.Anyway, it was important for me to explain my present position concerning the definition of Progressive Rock, now I'm most into looking at PA as a site for Progressive Music.Edited by David_D - 9 hours 58 minutes ago at 02:52
